Recent tests have shown that LightSquared's proposed mobile broadband network interferes with GPS devices in the area. The company plans to develop a wholesale 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) wireless broadband communications network integrated with satellite coverage across the United States. However, the interference between the mobile network and GPS devices has been officially confirmed by the government. National PNT Engineering Forum found that some devices simply lost strength, while others were knocked out completely. The interference occurs because Lightsquared's spectrum block is very close to that used by GPS receivers.
