Microsoft announces Slack competitor2016-11-03 04:15 by DanielaTags: Microsoft, Slack
Microsoft has announced a new Slack competitor, called Microsoft Teams. It will be part of Office 365 and will be deeply integrated with the other applications in the suite, such as OneDrive and Skype, for file sharing, voice and video chat. The new app will let teams in workplaces collaborate in real time. It is closer to a set of threaded conversations than a wide-open chatroom — a key difference between it and Slack. What that means is users can start a conversation about a particular topic, and keep everything about that topic organized in one place. Teams will be available in beta starting Thursday on the web, Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Considering Office 365 has more than 85 million commercial monthly active users, Microsoft hopes to allure those core customers to the new platform. Read more -here-
