Flipboard breach exposed usernames and passwords2019-05-30 16:14 by DanielaTags: Flipboard, security breach, hackers
The popular news aggregation app Flipboard has been hacked twice. Hackers stole usernames, email addresses, passwords and account tokens for third-party services. According to the company, "not all" Flipboard users' account data were involved in the breaches but it declined to say how many users were affected. "We recently identified unauthorized access to some of our databases containing certain Flipboard users' account information, including account credentials. In response to this discovery, we immediately launched an investigation and an external security firm was engaged to assist. Findings from the investigation indicate an unauthorized person accessed and potentially obtained copies of certain databases containing Flipboard user information between June 2, 2018 and March 23, 2019 and April 21 – 22, 2019," the company wrote in a statement. Flipboard is resetting all user passwords and replacing or deleting all digital tokens. If you connected Flipboard to Facebook or Twitter, you will need to reconnect your accounts. Flipboard says that to prevent something like this from happening again, it has implemented "enhanced security measures." Law enforcement officials have also been notified. Read more -here-
