Comcast to add Netflix to X1 platform2016-07-06 02:50 by DanielaTags: Comcast, Netflix
Netflix and Comcast have announced that Comcast customers will be able to stream Netflix through their X1 set-top box just like a regular cable channel. This is expected to happen before the end of the year. The deal is surprising because the two companies have been at odds in the past over issues such as data caps, delivery speeds and net neutrality. The exact terms of the deal have not been released yet, but maybe Netflix will pay a distribution cost to Comcast. "We have much work to do before the service will be available to consumers later this year," the companies said in a joint statement. "We'll provide more details at that time." The deal will make Comcast more competitive against rivals like Roku, Verizon and Dish, all of whom already have Netflix apps for customers. About 8 million of Comcast's 22.4 million cable-TV subscribers already have X1 boxes and millions more are expected to be on the system by the end of this year. Read more -here-
