Apple has announced the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. The appearance of the new devices is similar to the previous model (iPhone 6s). Both the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 and 5.5-inch 7 Plus come in the same rounded aluminium body.

What's different in the new models is the lack of headphone jack. Instead, the company offers a $159 pair of wireless AirPods.

The popular Home button isn't pressable anymore, but it is force sensitive like the Force Touch trackpads used in recent MacBook laptops. The Plus model has two lenses which enable optical zoom and other effects. Both new phones are water- and dust-resistant.

Another important improvement is the battery. Apple claims the iPhone 7 can last for 14 hours which is about two more hours of battery life every day compared to older models.

The base model iPhone 7 is priced at $649 and the Plus will start at $769. Preorders start on September 9 in the US.
