Akamai has fixed issues that affected many websites2021-07-22 18:57 by DanielaTags: Akamai, Amazon, eBay, UPS
Amazon, eBay, and UPS were among the websites impacted by technical issues plaguing the Internet this afternoon. Down Detector added a red warning banner to the top of its site reading, "Reports indicate there may be a widespread outage at Akamai, which may be impacting your service." Specifically, people are reporting that when they try to reach sites that use Akamai to host their DNS CNAMEs they can't reach them. The sites are fine. But, thanks to trouble on Akamai's DNS edge servers, your web browser, game application, whatever, can't reach the sites. They're not getting the right addresses so your local program doesn't know how to find them. After a two hour DNS outage that crippled many internet services, Akamai is now reporting that it has found and fixed the problem. It also confirmed that the downtime is "not a result of a cyberattack on the Akamai platform." "We have implemented a fix for this issue, and based on current observations, the service is resuming normal operations. We will continue to monitor to ensure that the impact has been fully mitigated," it says. Read more -here-
